MMR&G's O'Keefe Appointed Chairman of Federal Taxation Section Council for Illinois State Bar Association

Belleville, Ill., January 6, 2010…. Joe O’Keefe, shareholder at Mathis, Marifian, Richter & Grandy, Ltd. (MMR&G), a Belleville, Illinois-based law firm, was recently appointed Chairman of the 2009-2010 Federal Taxation Section Council for the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).

The mission of the ISBA Federal Taxation Section is to inform and advise the members of the bar on current developments in federal taxation and their ramifications; to review and comment on federal tax laws, regulations, court decisions, and Internal Revenue Service pronouncements and practices; and to monitor improvement and understanding of the federal tax system through proposals of, and changes in, tax laws and regulations, and through writing, testimony, conferences, and seminars.

O’Keefe joined MMR&G in 2002 and has since successfully served the business and estate planning needs of clients throughout Metropolitan St. Louis and Southern Illinois.  He focuses his practice on wills and trusts, estate and gift tax planning, probate, trust administration and corporate and business law.
