Belleville, IL January 8th, 2014. MMR Attorney Kevin J. Stine made a presentation during a Seminar for the Community Bank Attorney hosted by the Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI) on November 15, 2013 in Springfield, Ill.
This particular seminar focused on providing bank attorneys updated information on state laws and court cases impacting community banks, an overview of bank ESOPs, privacy in the workplace, Illinois mortgage foreclosure laws, and Stine's topic - protecting the secured lender in bankruptcy. During Stine's presentation, he discussed the challenges of representing community banks in bankruptcy proceedings and suggested methods to protect the bank's rights in bankruptcy proceedings.
The CBAI developed this seminar to help community bank attorneys gain the most up-to-date information when it comes to the myriad of legislative, legal, and regulatory mandates facing community banks.
"It is quite an honor to be chosen to present and discuss these issues with fellow bank attorneys" said Stine. "Bankruptcy has become an ever-changing area of the law, and it is important for all of us to share our knowledge and experiences so we can better serve our clients."
Stine has more than 25 years of experience handling litigation matters for financial institution and commercial enterprises. His practice focuses on banking law, bankruptcy, real estate law, commercial litigation and civil litigation. Stine is an AV© Preeminent rated attorney, which is the highest certification awarded by Martindale-Hubbell and only given to a small percentage of all lawyers nationally. He has also been recognized as a Leading Lawyer in the area of banking law by his peers, a distinction given to less than 5% of Illinois lawyers.
